
A Delhi-based social and not-for-profit initiative dedicated to promoting constitutional values, rule of law and protection of human rights.
The objects of the Trust are:
To promote by all appropriate means within its purview the social, economic, and cultural development and uplift the socially, economically, and educationally weak, disadvantaged, and marginalized sections of society.
To promote by all appropriate means within its purview and uplift citizens who are adversely affected or suffering in health, education, environment, human rights, and any other incidental problems.
To promote, protect and defend human rights and freedom, establish the supremacy of law, to implement vigorously the concept of “Justice to All” (i.e. victims, accused, investigating agencies, persons concerned and involved in the administration of justice and all related concerns) keeping in mind the principle “hate the sin but not the sinner”
To spread awareness of the law, health and education, environment, and human rights by way of publications, media, seminars, lectures, etc,
Without in any way limiting the generality of the main purposes stated above but always in conformity with the said main purposes, there are other objectives of the trust over and above referred herein above
One of the objectives as can be seen is to take suitable steps for implementing justice and maintaining peace.
Activities & Fact-Finding Reports
Call for Justice has consistently taken up sensitive cases, particularly cases having widespread societal implications, where the supremacy of law and justice may be facing threat. Some such justice-related issues taken up by Call for Justice include:-
1> Kulbhushan Jadhav’s Case (2017) – Dharna at Jantar Mantar followed by submission of memorandum at Pakistani High Commission.
2> Fact-finding on political violence at Kannur (2017) – Got commissioned a detailed and impartial fact-finding on the political violence in Kerala and submitted the report to the Hon ‘ble President of India and the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala.
3> Fact-finding on Riots in Northeast Delhi (2020) – Got commissioned a detailed and impartial fact-finding on the riots in north-eastern parts of Delhi and submitted the report to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister.
4> Fact-finding on post-poll violence in Bengal (2021) – Got commissioned a detailed and impartial fact-finding on the post-poll violence in West Bengal.
Apart from the above, the Trust regularly organizes seminars and talks. Human Rights Day (December 10) is observed every year by Call for Justice by organizing a talk on a burning justice-related issue. Guests in the past on the occasion of Human Rights Day celebrations include former judges such as Justice Rajendra Menon, leading journalists such as Sh Tarek Fateh, and retired senior civil servants and police personnel.
